Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and books by other Nazi leaders are again available in the public libraries of Austria.

Meanwhile, the Allied Control Commission has been unable to reach a decision on a request by Austrian Chancellor Leopold Figl that it rescind its order of April, 1948, forbidding the publication of militariestic and anti-Allied literature. The Western Powers support Chancellor Figl who argues that the regulation is no longer necessary, but the Soviet delegate opposed the request. Pointing to the appearance of a number of recently published Nazi works, he demanded that they be destroyed.
