New York U.J.A. Holds Emergency Meeting to Aid Jewish Dp’s Emigrate Before End of 1950

More than 200 leaders of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York met at the Hotel Biltmore today in an emergency meeting “called to consider means of financing the emigration of a minimum of 80,000 Jewish refugees during the last quarter of 1950.” The U.J.A. added that these 80,000 Jews “must find haven in Israel or other countries before the end of the year to escape persecution or to beat emigration deadlines.”
