Barnett Janner, M.P. and chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, told a meeting of the Board last night that Germany’s refusal to transfer abroad the interests or pensions of Jews who fled Nazi persecution would be taken up with the proper authorities.

The West German Government, the meeting was told, at present grants approximately 50 pounds in foreign currency to Germans traveling overseas, but makes no payments to Jewish victims of Nazism living abroad. The Board earlier ratified an agreement approved in July by the first full meeting of the Coordinating Board of Jewish Organizations, held in conjunction with the South African Jewish Board of Deputies and the B’nai B’rith of the United States.

The Israel Minister to the Court of St. James, Eliahu Elath, and his wife were honored at a reception here by the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and the Koren Hayesod. Over 600 prominent Jewish leaders attended the function including Chief Rabbi Abraham Cohen and Barnett Janner, M.P. A tribute was paid to the memory of the late Dr. Mordecai Eliash, the first Israel Minister to Britain.
