A French archaeological party this week-end reported the discovery of an ancient bronze gate and part of a bronze rampart in diggings at Tel el Farah, north of Nablus.

The gate is believed to be some 3,800 years old and the section of the rampart may be 5,800 years old. The discoveries made in three excavations seemed to confirm the hypothesis that Tel el Farah is the site of Tirsa, first capital of the ancient kingdom of Israel.
