The British Government is protesting against the Egyptian Government’s decision to check passengers of planes landing at a British military airfield in the Suez Canal zone as contrary to a 1936 treaty, a Foreign Office spokesman announced today.
The British Parliament was told today by Minister of Immigration Holt that property valued, at pre-war rates, at 10,000,000 pounds and owned by the Templar Society–whose headquarters are now in Australia–has been frozen by the Israel Government. The Society is composed of Germans formerly residing in Palestine.
The Australian Government, Mr. Holt said, is pressing a “just settlement of the Templars’ claims, hoping that their assets and property will be liquidated satisfactorily and the proceeds transferred to the Templars in Australia.”
