Premier David Ben Gurion said today that his new Cabinet would “strive for intensification of production” through Pinhas Lubianiker, Agriculture Minister, and Yaacov Geri, Minister of Trade and Industry. Mr. Ben Gurion spoke at a reception for a seven-member delegation of the South African Jewish press now visiting Israel. The Israel Premier stressed that his new Cabinet does not “represent a deviation in policy.”
Premier Ben Gurion also lauded the South Africans who fought in Israel’s armed force and urged the delegation to convey “Israel’s tribute” to South African Jewry. He also appealed to Jews in the British Dominion to send their “youths and skilled and expert workers to Israel,” adding that they are “more important than money.” The delegation yesterday made a flying visit to Eilat, Israel’s southernmost outpost.
