The French section of the Israel Maritime League decided today to launch a campaign for the establishment of scholarships for young French Jews who wish to undergo training at the Israel Naval School at Haifa.

A campaign to collect winter clothing for immigrants in Israel was launched here today at a conference of Jewish women’s organizations convened by the Jewish Agency. The dire need of the immigrants was described at the conference by a representative of the Jewish Agency. He pointed out that the Jews in Israel themselves last year provided clothing to 50,000 newcomers. This, he said, will not be possible to achieve this year in view of the austerity regime.
