The Jewish Book Council of America today announced that “Jewish Book Sabbath” will be marked in synagogues throughout the United States this Friday evening and Saturday by rabbis in their congregations. This is the tenth annual observance conducted by the Council, which aims to promote interest in Jewish books and Jewish literary creativity.

The Jewish Book Council also called upon American Jewry to set aside December 3 as “Jewish Book Festival” day and to observe it through appropriate book programs in the home. To aid participants in the observance, the Council has issued book lists, program manuals and guides to setting up a Jewish library.
