Jewish Population of Yugoslavia Now Stands at 6,244; Zagreb Has Iargest Community

Figures released by World Jewish Congress head quarters here based on reports from Belgrade listed the number of Jews now living in Yugoslavia and registered with Jewish communal organizations at 6,244. Jewish organizations now function in 57 towns and cities.

A breakdown of the report lists the Jewish population in Yugoslavia as follows: Belgrade, 1,180; Zagreb, 1,397; Sarajevo, 891; Subotica, 643; Novy Sad, 372; Skoplie, 105; Osijek, 192; Rijec, 134; Sombor, 105. Some 700 Jews in Yugoslavia have to date remained unaffiliated with any Jewish organization.
