Members of the Cabinet and Parliament were among the many notables here who attended a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Jewish National Fund, which took place in the Habima Theatre here.

Dr. Abraham Granot, world head of the Fund, told the gathering that there are 2,000,000 dunams of abandoned land in Israel and that their acquisition is being sought by the J.N.F. He announced that the Jewish National Fund will plant, in 1951, 7,000,000 new trees, doubling the afforestation rate up to now. He also said that 50,000 dunams of land will be made available by the Jewish National Fund for farming expansion.

Other speakers at the ceremony included Berl Locker, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive; Joseph Sprinzak, Speaker of Parliament; David Remez, member of the Cabinet; and G. Kamini, national chairman of the Jewish National Fund. A message of greetings was read at the gathering from Dr. Earris J. Levine, president of the J.N.F. of America.
