The German Committee for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization today called for a ban on film-making by Veit Harlan, producer of the Nazi anti-Semitic film “Jew Suess.”
The UNESCO committee’s statement said that Harlan’s reappearance reopens old wounds and gives rise to the fear that films will be used for political propaganda purposes. The committee asked for the ban because of the threat to the work of conciliation, education, science and culture which Harlan’s reappearance represents.
