The Israel delegation has been circulating among various other delegations its plan for a negotiated settlement of the Korean Mr. Although comment is said to be highly favorable, it is understood that the Israelis are not considering laying a formal proposal based on the plan before the General Assembly Political Committee at the present time.

The Israel formula is a package plan covering all aspects of the Korean peace settlement, and it is felt that the time is not now opportune for formally presenting it. The plan, to be put into effect in successive stages, encompasses a cease-fire, progressive demilitarization of the peninsula and U.N. supervision of political and economic reconstruction in Korea. These steps would be followed by a conference, at which the Chinese Communists would be present, to negotiate related Far East problems such as Formosa.
