NEW YORK (Jan. 15)
Laudatory reviews of the first concert of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra last night at Carnegie Hall are carried today by the entire New York press. The music critic of the New York Times says that the orchestra “gave an admirable account of itself.
“What we have here is an accomplished orchestra of 95 excellent musicians, capable of the admirably competent interpretation of the modern repertory, playing with an alertness and feeling worthy of the culture and the ideals for which it stands,” the New York Times critic wrote. Similar views were expressed by the music critics of the New York Herald Tribune and other newspapers.
