A demand that Israel’s foreign policy be submitted to a nationwide referendum was voiced in the Parliament today by leaders of the Mapam, the left-wing Socialist Party, during a debate on foreign affairs.
Mapam leaders especially attacked Israel’s stand on the Korean issue at the United Nations. Itzhak Ben Aharon, one of the Mapam deputies, said that only a referendum will show whether the people of Israel approve the present policy of Israel’s Foreign Minister, Moshe Sharett. Mr. Sharett is expected to class the debate tonight.
