The National Advisory Board of the Jewish National Fund today appealed to the United Nations to reject the protest note of the Syrian Government against the reclamation work carried out by the J.N.F. in the region of the Huleh swamp, on the border of Israel and Syria. The Syrian Government objected on the ground that the drainage of the 15,000-acre swamp would endanger the security of Syria.
The National Advisory Board consists of 100 Jewish communal leaders with constituencies in 40 states. Its purpose is to counsel the Jewish National Fund board of directors on broad matters of policy and to help in the mobilization of community wide support of J.N.F. projects. Dr. Abraham Granott, world president of the J.N.F. in Jerusalem, addressing the newly constituted National Advisory Board, called for the implementation of the five-year program adopted by the Golden Jubilee Conference of the Jewish National Fund in Washington.
