Col. Harold B. Hoskins, former State Department official known for his pro-Arab and anti-Zionist views, was appointed yesterday by the Department as consultant to George C. McGhoe, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs.
Col. Hoskins has been president of the Board of Trustees of the American University in Beirut. During World War II, while attached to the American intelligence service, he was sent by President Roosevelt to Saudi Arabia to discuss the Palestine situation with King Ibn Saud. He is also an adviser to the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey.
