Professor Albert Einstein today signed an agreement formally bringing the American Committee for the Hebrew University, Weizmann Institute of Science and Tehonion–known as U.I.T.–into the 1951 campaign of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York.
The ceremony took place in the study of Prof. Einstein’s home here. Signing for U.I.T. were Prof. Einstein, its president, and Samuel Hausman, its executive president, who is also a general chairman of the New York U.J.A. campaign. Edwin Rosenberg signed for the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York as chairman of its executive committee.
“The inclusion of the U.I.T. in the New York U.J.A. campaign is another milestones in the effort to bring together philanthropic causes of related purpose in a unified campaign,” Prof. Einstein stated in signing. “I believe such unification is in the best interests of the community since it conserves the time and energies of volunteers and contributors and insures greater economy and efficiency of operation.”
