A statement condemning Israel “aggression” was issued today following a meeting at the Syrian legation of the diplomatic representatives of Arab countries. The meeting was held at the invitation of the Egyptian Ambassador. The Arab states involved were Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Yemen. The statement said:

“The Huleh incident and the bombing of Syrian territory by Jewish airplanes is a grave transgression which is symptomatic of Zionist aggression. This outrage is demonstrative of the need for the decision made by all the Arab governments that an attack on one of them is considered as an act of aggression against them all and that they are determined to repulse aggression from wherever it comes by all means in their hands. Furthermore, it is demonstrative of the need that peace-loving countries of the world should call upon Israel to abide by the decisions of the United Nations.

“The further and subsequent invasion of Jordanian territory is another example of the same aggressive policy of expansionism. The representatives of the Arab countries wish to call attention to the fact that if Israel persists in such attacks, the security and peace of the Near East will be gravely endangered.”
