The severest drought in 30 years has caused damage to winter crops estimated at four million pounds ($11,200,000), Y. Efrati, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, reported here today.
In areas of the Negev, he said , 70 to 80 percent of the normal crop was lest. However, the Galilee, one of Israel’s most fertile areas, was not seriously affected by drought conditions, he added.
