Sgt. Arthur Levino, the first enlisted reservist in the New York Military District to volunteer to return to active duty following the outbreak of the hostilities in Korea, died of wounds received in action on the Korean front, the Defense Department announced. His parents were notified of his death, which took place on May 26.
Levino was 23 years old. In 1947 he served with the 88th Division in Europe. Prior to his joining the armed services he had attended the Yeshiva of Flatbush and Brooklyn College. Mayor William O’Dwyer and high ranking military men congratulated him in a ceremony at City Hall when he volunteered for service prior to being sent to Korea.
