Bernard Baruch was attacked here last night as “a Zionist Jew” by Thomas L. Hamilton, Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan in South Carolina. He spoke before a crowd of about 1,000 persons gathered 20 miles from Mr. Baruch’s plantation home. None of them wore klan robes.

The meeting marked renewed Klan activity in South Carolina. The Ku Klux Klan leader said that Mr. Baruch is attempting to “regiment” the American people with federal control. He also spoke against Negroes, stating that they are conducting effective propaganda toward ending segregation in schools.
