The World Conference of the Jewish National Fund today adopted a resolution calling for continued “organizational and financial autonomy” but urging the overhauling of the fund-raising methods for Israel in countries abroad.
The resolution reasserted “the privilege of the Jewish National Fund to conduct its time-honored traditional activities throughout the Jewish communities” and declared that any attempt by other organizations to employ similar methods of fundraising would be incompatible with Zionist discipline and detrimental to Israel.
In recommending fund-raising reform, the resolution suggested the establishment of a Joint authority in Israel consisting of representatives of the Israel Government, the Jewish Agency and the Jewish National Fund. Other resolutions pledged expanded educational and propaganda activities in order to help Israel and stimulate education among Jewish youth throughout the world aimed at attracting young people to Israel.
The delegates also adopted a resolution calling upon Jewish communities to increase the number of living legacies and bequests for the Jewish National Fund and promised “to remain loyal and faithful partners in the United Jewish Appeals wherever they are being conducted.”
