The Jewish Community Council of Metropolitan Boston, by an almost unanimous vote, has given its full approval to the MacIver Report containing recommendations on the activities of Jewish organizations engaged in combatting anti-Semitism.
The Council, made up of more than a score of Greater Boston organizations, voted to support the MacIver suggestions. Among these are included: financing the National Community Relations Council by local, rather than by national, funds; a reporting system for instances of violations of agreement; a liberalized admissions policy on membership in the N.C.R.A.C. and giving the N.C.R.A.C. the authority to inaugurate reviews and evaluations of the work of the national agencies.
The Boston Council also is backing Dr. MacIver’s key recommendation for the creation of an advisory committee on over-all strategy in the field of community relations. However, the Council observed in its report to the Evaluative Committee that insufficient time was available for careful study of the MacIver Report by all members of the Council; hence, the Council reserves the right to make further observations and comments at a later date.
