Norbert Wollheim, president of the Federation of West German Jewish Communities, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today that his organization had long sought talks with the West German authorities on the position of German Jews, but has received no reaction to its representations.

Commenting on a recent interview given by Dr. Theodor Heuss, President of the West German Republic, in which the German official stated that his government was prepared to enter into talks with the German Jewish community but that there was no overall organization with which to talk, Wollheim said the German Jews had approached Dr. Heuss directly but had had no answer. He termed the Heuss statement a “typical example” of the governmental attitude towards the Jews and Jewish problems.
