Israel may buy 25,000 tons of sugar each year during the next four years from Cuba, it was revealed here today by S.M. Kaplan, representative of the Jewish Agency in Cuba. Negotiations to this effect are now being conducted between the two countries, he told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

Since Israel’s total need of sugar is about 35,000 tons a year, the agreement with Cuba will cover the largest part of it, Mr. Kaplan pointed out. He also revealed that 192 Jews have emigrated from Cuba to Israel since 1929. Mr. Kaplan attended the 23rd World Zionist Congress in Jerusalem as representative of all Zionist groups in Cuba.
