B.A. Ettlinger, former president of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies, said here that Prime Minister Daniel F. Malan of South Africa has made good on the assurances he gave to Ettlinger when his party assumed power in 1948 that there would be no discrimination against the Jews. Speaking to a luncheon meeting of the several Jewish groups, Mr. Ettlinger said that South African Jews will continue to remain alert for signs of discrimination, particularly if an economic depression should develop.
