The Israel delegation this week-end endorsed in general terms the proposed declaration of non-aggression and goodwill drafted by the United Nations Conciliation Commission on Palestine and submitted by the commission to Israel and the four Arab states represented at the triangular peace talks here.
Israel’s views on the declaration, which is contained in the preamble to the five point plan proposed by the commission, were voiced at a meeting here today of the commission and the Israeli delegation. The commission now has before it Israel’s endorsement of the preamble, supported by an offer of non-aggression pacts with the Arab nations, and Arab objections to the preamble.
So far, there has been no discussion of the five-point plan itself, for which the Paris conference was called. These five points cover the whole range of issues outstanding in the Palestine area. The commission will meet again next week in separate sessions with the Israeli delegation and with the Arab delegations.
