The organization of an Hadassah chapter in Alaska was announced here today by the headquarters of the organization. The announcement said: “the 1,200th chapter to join our ranks is the brand new one in Anchorage, Alaska, to which we today dispatched its founding charter. With the Alaskan addition and the Puerto Rican chapter which was organized last year. Hadassah now spans the entire North American continent.”
The Anchorage chapter was organized through the initiative of Mrs. Zuschya Freedman, the wife of an Army chaplain stationed in Alaska. “Mrs. Freedman was one of many young Jewish army wives who wanted to do their share in the two-fold Hadassah program of helping the democracy of Israel secure its roots and preserving America’s democratic heritage at home,” Mrs. Leo I. Dana, national organization chairman, said.
