The establishment of an Israel Institute at the Jewish Theological Seminary was announced here today jointly by Dr. Louis Finkelstein, chancellor of the Seminary, and Dr. Hayim Greenberg, member of the Jewish Agency executive in charge of educational activities. The purpose of the Seminary-Israel Institute will be to develop spiritual ties between the people of Israel and the Jews of the United States. The Institute will be conducted jointly by the Seminary and the Jewish Agency.

“It is the purpose of the Jewish Agency and of the Jewish Theological Seminary to bring to the Institute leading figures in Israel for discussions of the problems and background of Israeli life with eminent Americans of all faiths,” the announcement said. “It is particularly expected that scholars of all groups will participate in the weekly sessions of the Institute to be held at the Seminary, beginning in February, 1952.”
