At the request of the Jewish Agency, the Israel Army will take over responsibility–during the winter months–for 30 immigrant work villages with a population of 15,000 persons, it was announced here today by Col. Shaul Makleff, deputy chief of staff of the Israel Army.

The army will provide sanitation and other services, while the Jewish Agency will continue to provide medical service and the Ministry of Education will maintain the schools in the camps, as it does at all other times. Children from these villages will be housed in special camps operated by women reservists. All the maaba-rot affected by this arrangement are located near fairly large towns.
