Measures aimed at ending religious and racial discrimination in Illinois colleges and universities were adopted here at a two-day conference of educators from 49 Illinois institutions held at Roosevelt College under the auspices of the Illinois Committee of the Regional Conference of Educators and the Committee on Discrimination in Higher Education of the American Council of Education.
The conference agreed that race, creed, color and national origin should have no bearing on admission to schools, entrance into fraternities or sororities, housing, scholarship grants, college employment and placement of graduates. It stated that no information indicating race, creed or color should be included in data submitted by schools to prospective employers.
Although the delegates were unanimous in agreement on recommending those steps to their schools, implementation is voluntary and depends on action taken by each college.
