The judicial commission of the Knesset resumed discussion today on a new law governing the presidency and is expected to bring before Parliament next week a draft providing for election of the president for a fixed term of four or five years independently of the tenure of the Knesset.

Under the present law, the president serves for three months after the election of a new Parliament. Under this law, President Chaim Weizmann’s term would expire on November 20.
