Appointment of Bruce McDaniel, wartime chief of the resources section, U. S. Military Government in Europe, as director of technical co-operation for Israel was announced today by the State Department.
“All details of the Point Four program in Israel cannot be worked out until Mr. McDaniel has had an opportunity to study the situation at first hand,” Dr. Henry G. Bennett, Technical Co-operation Administrator, said today. “It appears clear, though, that United States co-operation will be concentrated in the following general fields: expansion of power, manufacturing and transportation facilities, assistance in expanding the irrigation system to bring new land under cultivation, construction of additional housing for the growing population, expansion of the fishing industry and of food storage facilities, provision of food, clothing and fuel to assist in the settlement of recent immigrants, and technical aid in such specialized fields as port administration, communications systems and harbor facilities.”
