A storm has broken out in Canada over the case of Nazi General Kurt Meyer, who was removed from a Canadian prison where he was held for his part in the murder of Canadian prisoners of war to a German camp from which he was given “leave” to visit his family. After the news of the “leave” broke here, his defenders asked that he be released from jail to head an anti-Soviet European army unit.

In an address which has received wide circulation in Canada, Rabbi Abraham L. Feinberg of this city has expressed the hope that “the day will never dawn when Kurt Meyer snaps military commands to sons, brothers and compatriots of Canadian prisoners murdered only a few hundred feet from his headquarters. ” The Rabbi described the general as a “fanatical, fundamentally unchanged Nazi who refuses to admit that Hitler was wrong. “
