Download PDF for this date

The Israel Government is taking a most serious view of the violence which has developed in the maritime strike in the Haifa area, a government spokesman announced here tonight after a Cabinet meeting this afternoon heard a report on the situation. The Cabinet decided to hold a special meeting later this week when it has additional material on the strike. (See earlier story on Page 4.)

The Cabinet meeting today also heard Premier David Ben Gurion report on the international scene and on developments relating to Jordan. In addition, the Premier told the Ministers what Dr. Nahum Goldmann, co-chairman of the Jewish Agency, had reported to him last week about negotiations with Germany corporations. In the report of the Police Minister on the Haifa clashes this week-end, it was stated that 55 policemen had been injured and that five were still hospitalized.
