Chairman Emanuel Celler of the House Judiciary Committee, who returned recently from Israel, reported to President Truman at the White House today that Israel is making steady progress toward economic recovery.

Rep. Celler predicted to White House newsmen that Israel, if invited, would join the Middle East Command. Rep. Celler said Israel has 100,000 well-trained soldiers and many more in reserve, and that the Jewish State is the West’s “only anchor to the windward in the Middle East.”
