Letters protesting acts of terrorism against minorities in Florida were sent this week to President Truman and to Congressmen representing Essex County Intergroup Council.

The letters, signed by Suffragan Bishop Theodore R. Ludlow, chairman of the council, denounced the bombings as a “deep tragedy for every American and for every human being” and warned that they were “a great detriment to our international relations.”

President Truman was urged in the letters to use all his powers “to find and bring the perpetrators of this violence to justice.” Letters to the Congressmen urged a Congressional investigation into the “causes of such lawlessness in the State of Florida.”
