The executive of the Federation of Jewish Institutions here today issued a statement disavowing a decision taken by a group here named Council of Delegates of Jewish Institutions to inform Jewish groups abroad of its opposition to direct negotiations with Germany for reparations claimed by Israel.

The statement says that the group which voted opposition to direct Jewish-German negotiations was not entitled to make any decision under the provisions of the Federation’s constitution. Declaring that the executive intends to take up the issue in due time, the statement added that as long as Jews in Brazil were not asked by the Jewish Agency or any other representative Jewish body to express their opinion on the reparations question, the Federation will, for the time being, abstain from making any decision on this subject.
