Racial and religious discrimination in employment was reduced in 1951 in New York State, the State Commission Against Discrimination said in its annual report to the Governor made public here today.
The report emphasized that discrimination still existed, and that constant vigilance and repeated educational efforts were necessary to insure lasting results. During 1951 the commission processed 1,282 regulatory matters, including 243 verified complaints, 44 investigations started by the commission, 177 case reviews and 196 informal complaints and inquiries. A total of 244 verified complaints, 141 of which were filed during 1951, were closed during the year.
