Prof. F. Boehme, reportedly the leader of the German delegation to the negotiations with Israel on reparations claims, participated in a meeting organized here to discuss what Germans can do to achieve peace with the Jews of the world. The meeting was sponsored by the League of Free and Political Students.
Prof. Boehme insisted that it was necessary for all “diffident” Germans to support the payment of reparations to Israel and to support movements to reconcile the two nations. In addition, he suggested that Germans who favor peace with the Jews of the world should strive to achieve a position where no anti-Semite would dare appear in public.
He stressed that without the “true spirit of reconciliation” taking hold of Germans, the payment of reparations claims to Jews would amount to “blood money.” Another speaker suggested that all Germans who work for peace with Israel should wear a pin in the form of a Star of David.
