Over $1,000,000 was raised here today on behalf of the $10,000,000 Israel Histadrut campaign at a national mobilization conference at the Hotel Commodore. More than 2,500 delegates from 250 cities and towns across the country attended the all-day meeting to spur the fund-raising drive in aid of the Histadrut, Israel’s labor federation.

Highlight of the conference was the presentation of a special scroll of honor to Federal Security Administrator Oscar R. Ewing for his aid to Israel and the Histadrut. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ewing said that “our goal” should be not only the preservation of Israel but the “progress of all the nations of the Middle East, in a community of freedom and progress and peace.”

Other speakers included Eliezer Livneh, member of the Israel Parliament; Joseph Schlossberg, general chairman of the National Committee for Labor Israel; and Dr. Joseph Burstein, chairman of the Histadrut delegation to the United States. Louis Segal, general secretary of the Farband-Labor Zionist Order, presided.
