Airborne emigration of Israel-bound Jews from Fersia, which was resumed last week–with chartered planes making daily flights between Teheran and Lydda–was temporarily suspended today as a result of the spreading of the plague in several districts in Persia.
One Lydda-bound plane with immigrants returned to Teheran after receiving instructions from Israel. However, it was learned here this afternoon that the Persian authorities prohibited the immigrants landing in Persia, claiming that those who left the country for Israel cannot return.
About 100 immigrants from Persia who arrived here during the week-end have been placed in quarantine. The Israeli authorities at the Lydda airport are making preparations to quarantine all the immigrants who may still arrive in the course of the next 24 hours. At the same time, they announced that planes from Teheran will, for the time being, not be permitted to land in Lydda.
