Leaders of the Communist-controlled Jewish Democratic Committee throughout Rumania were put on the carpet for their failure to press the fight against Zionism at a special conference held at Cluj, the current issue of the Rumanian Jewish publication Viata Noua, which just arrived here, reports.

I, Bacal, secretary of the central committee of the organization, denounced the shortcomings of many of the Committee’s bureaus, and charged that “some of the comrades have slackened their spirit of vigilance towards the class enemy thus permitting the Zionist nationalists to entrap some of the faithful in the web of their lies.” He also charged that the Zionists are seeking “to poison the Jewish masses with propaganda,” and assailed Committee “activists” for a lack of zeal.

The conference at Cluj adopted a resolution declaring that “the mistaken tendency to separate the fight for peace from combatting Zionism must be opposed. For every honest Jew the fight for peace is inconceivable without combatting the Zionist propaganda of the Jewish bourgeoisie — propaganda serving the American imperialists, the mortal enemies of mankind.”
