Israel’s new budget was moving through its second and final readings in the Knesset tonight with adoption expected at a late vote despite bitter attacks from the opposition parties, including the Progressives, who demanded a 10 percent cut “down the line” in order to “normalize the State’s finances.”
The Knesset is expected to adopt some amendments to the new Nationalities Law before adjournment on Wednesday for the Passover recess.
The Cabinet, at its meeting today, approved regulations covering exemption of women from military service requirements. The Cabinet also voted approval of Israeli participation in the Olympic Games at Helsinki and allocated foreign exchange for this purpose.
