Jewish Population of Canada Increases 36,000 in Decade

The Jewish population of Canada has increased from 168,657 in 1941 to 204,836 in 1951, an official census report released here this weekend reported. The Jewish community of Canada now makes up 1.5 percent of the total population.

A total of 6,599 Jewish immigrants entered Canada in 1951 as compared to 2,429 who were admitted in the previous year. The official Canadian statistics designation of “Jewish” refers to persons affiliated with Jewish religious groups.
