Ezra Shapiro of Cleveland, vice-president of the Zionist Organization of America, was named today a candidate for the presidency of the Z.O.A. by a group of Zionist leaders who simultaneously announced the formation of a nation-wide “Committee for the Revitalization of the Z.O.A.”
The Committee, still in the process of formation, includes Z.O.A. vice-presidents Dewey Stone, Rudolf Sonneborn and Jacob Alkow. A detailed program for the Committee will be formulated at a conference to be held in New York on May 18, it was announced at a press conference today. Speakers at the conference will include Dr. Nahum Goldmann and Louis Lipsky.
