Scientific Mission Leaves for Israel; to Work, Teach There

A scientific mission, headed by Prof. Israel Wechsler, Columbia University neurologist and deputy chairman of the Board of Governors of the Hebrew University, sailed yesterday for Israel to teach and work with local scientists in laboratories and schools. The scientists will also attend a Hebrew University Medical School symposium on June 8-10.

Beside Prof. Wechsler, the scientists on the mission include: Dr. Ernest Chain, Nobel Prize winner for the co-discovery and development of penicillin; Prof. David Nachmanson, Department of Neurophysiology, Columbia University; Prof. David Rittenberg, Department of Biochemistry, Columbia University; Prof. Louis Fieser. Department of Organic Chemistry, Harvard University; Prof. Severo Ochoa, Department of Pharmacology, New York University; Prof. Harry Grundfest, Columbia University; Prof. Kurt S. Stern, Department of Chemistry, Brooklyn Polytechnic Inst.; J.H. Quastel, Department of Biochemistry, McGill University; and, Prof. Heinrich Wallsch, Columbia University.

Dr. Wechsler is also bringing with him a painting of Prof. Albert Einstein by Mikol Schattenstein which he will present to the Hebrew University.
