A window marking the heroism of four Army chaplains–two Protestants, one Roman Catholic and one Jewish–who sacrificed their lives in the sinking of the troopship Dorchester, off Greenland during World War II, was unveiled here yesterday in the Post Chapel of the United States Military Academy.
The Window of the Four Chaplains, the first of a series of stained-glass windows to be installed in the chapel, depicts the last minutes aboard the sinking vessel. The chaplains who died in the sinking, after having given their lifejackets to enlisted men, were First Lieuts. George L. Fox of Gilman, Vt.; Alexander D. Goode of Marion, Ind.; Clark V. Poling of Schenectady, N.Y., and John P. Washington of Arlington, N.J.
