The Israel Government is planning to introduce a bill in Parliament permitting the government to replace individual Ministers who become too ill to hold their posts, or who resign, without the necessity of obtaining a vote of confidence for the entire Cabinet, a government spokesman revealed here today.
The present law requires that when one Minister leaves the Cabinet the entire government must resign and the Premier must seek a new vote of confidence. This latest government move will be taken in connection with the replacement of Eliezer Kaplan, the Finance Minister who has submitted his resignation because of poor health. The spokesman did not indicate when the new measure would go to Parliament.
