Three men arrested in connection with the attempted bombing yesterday of the home of David Zvi Pinkas, Minister of Communications, were arraigned here today in magistrate’s court and held for 15 days pending further investigation. The court denied bond to two of the defendants, Amos Kinan and Shaltiel Ben-Yair, who were accused of placing explosives in the Pinkas apartment. The third man, William Steiner, who was charged with possession of explosives, was ordered released on posting of 1,000 pounds bail.
Widespread condemnation of the bomb attack was voiced here today. The Cabinet, which heard a report on the incident last night, denounced it as an “abhorrent crime” and pledged the Government “to use every means to prevent people from taking the law into their own hands.” Political leaders denounced the attack on Mr. Pinkas as an outrage and a dangerous precedent for the country’s democratic life.
